This excursion at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary involves navigating through lush vegetation in search of rhinos, bringing you closer to these Big 5 game members. Ziwa is the only place in Uganda where rhinos can be spotted in the wild, also home to other mammals and over 300 bird species.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Kampala/Entebbe – Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Rhino Trekking – Return
Early morning breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala. Meet your Dawnlight Journeys guide for a briefing about your day tour to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, including rhino tracking. Depart early via the Kampala-Gulu Highway, branching off at Nakasongola to access Ziwa. Upon arrival, receive a briefing from sanctuary officials on rhino tracking regulations. Enjoy 2-3 hours trekking through lush vegetation in search of rhinos, observing them up close in the wild and learning about their behavior. Other wildlife and bird species may also be encountered. After the trek, return with your guide. If time allows, have lunch at a lodge in the sanctuary. After lunch and relaxation, drive back to Kampala/Entebbe via the Luweero Triangle, with an optional stop for fresh fruits. Drop-off at your hotel or airport marks the end of the tour.
